Attach へ (pronounced 'e' here) to a place to mark where motion is headed, used with verbs of going or coming. It overlaps with the destination use of に, but へ leans on the direction of travel rather than the exact arrival point.

Tips and Common Traps

Hana· Key point

へ and に are often interchangeable for destinations, so don't stress over the difference at first. With time you'll feel that へ sounds more like 'toward' and に sounds more like 'arriving at'.

Maru· Common trap

Remember: the kana へ is read 'he' on its own, but as a particle it is read 'e'. Don't let the spelling throw you.
