How it works
は (topic) marks 空 (sky) as the topic — “as for the sky…” — and the adjective 青い (blue) stands on its own as the whole predicate. Japanese い-adjectives don’t need a verb like “is”; 青い (blue) already carries the “it is blue” meaning by itself.
