Open a first meeting

はじめまして comes before your name, and the person you are meeting says it back. It is closer to “this is the first time” than to a greeting, which is why it stops working the moment you have met: the next day you greet that same person with おはようございます or こんにちは. The introduction is usually closed with よろしくおねがいします.
