Something and nothing
なに + か is “something”: なにか ある？ なに + も with a negative form is “nothing”: なにも ない. だれか somebody, だれも…ない nobody.

The question words build new words with two small particles. With か they become indefinite: なにか something, だれか somebody, どこか somewhere, いつか sometime. なにか たべる？ — shall we eat something? どこかへ いきましょう.
With も and a negative form they become “none at all”: なにも ない, there is nothing; だれも いない, nobody is here; どこへも いかない, I go nowhere. The も-word needs the verb to be negative — なにも あります does not work. Politely: なにも ありません, だれも いません.
