助けて

How it works

Two te-form verbs used as bare urgent commands: 助けて(たすけて) (help) and 来て(きて) (come) are the te-forms of 助ける(たすける) (to help) and 来る(くる) (to come), which on their own work as quick, casual requests. Between them, 誰(だれ) (who) plus か (question) becomes 誰か(だれか) (someone) — the question particle attached to a question word turns it into an indefinite "some-". So: "Help! Somebody come."
