Name the thing you want, mark it with を, and finish with ください to ask for it politely. Use this when you want an object handed to you, such as at a shop or restaurant. It is different from the て-form + ください, which asks someone to perform an action rather than give a thing.

This pattern is one of the first things you'll say in Japan — at a café, a shop, a restaurant. Just point or name the item and add をください.

Maru· Common trap

Don't confuse this with て-form + ください. 水をくださいみずをください (give me water) asks for a thing; 飲んでくださいのんでください (please drink) asks for an action.
