Add か to the volitional ましょう to offer help ('Shall I carry that?') or invite joint decision ('Shall we start?').

Offer help or suggest an action: shall I? / shall we?

Adding か (ka) to 〜ましょう (let's) creates a prompt for the other person's approval. It has two main uses:

1. Offering help (Shall I...?): When you notice someone in need of assistance, volunteer politely: - 荷物を 持ちましょうか(にもつを もちましょうか) (Shall I carry your luggage?) - 窓を 開けましょうか(まどを あけましょうか) (Shall I open the window?) 2. Joint decision (Shall we...?): When checking if the group is ready to act: - 始めましょうか(はじめましょうか) (Shall we begin?) - そろそろ 行きましょうか(そろそろ いきましょうか) (Shall we get going?)

When accepting an offer of help, answer politely: はい、お願いします(はい、おねがいします) (yes, please).
