How it works

Two set farewell pieces sit side by side with no verb between them. さようなら (goodbye) is the goodbye itself, then また (again) plus 明日あした (tomorrow) literally means “again tomorrow” — the verb “see” is simply left out, since the meaning is obvious. The comma marks the natural pause between the two phrases.
