How it works
This is the plain i-adjective 寂しい (lonely) standing on its own — no copula needed, since i-adjectives carry their own "is." The sentence-final の (right?) softens it into a gentle, caring question: not a blunt "are you lonely?" but a warm "feeling lonely?"
