How it works
が (subject) marks 苺 (strawberry) as the thing wanted. Add 〜たい (want to) to a verb stem to say you want to do something: 食べる (eat) becomes 食べたい (want to eat). With the 〜たい (want to) form, what you want is often marked by が (subject) rather than the object particle.
