How it works

ちょっと (a moment) softens the whole request, like adding “just” — “just wait a sec”. The verb 待ってまって (wait) is the て (te-form) form of 待つまつ (wait); on its own like this it works as a light, casual request rather than a full command. The final ね (right?) softens it further, asking for the listener’s easy agreement instead of barking an order.
