How it works

Japanese says literally “an egg allergy exists” where English says “I have an egg allergy”. が (subject) marks the thing that exists (卵アレルギー(たまごアレルギー) (egg allergy)), and あります (have, exists), the polite form of ある (to exist), lands at the end — あります (have, exists) is for things and conditions, not living beings. The owner “I” is never said; context carries it.
