How it works

Japanese puts the verb last: topic, then object, then action. は (topic) marks 蜘蛛くも (spider) as what the sentence is about, を (object) marks 巣す (web) as the thing being acted on, and 張るはる (weave) comes at the very end. It stays in plain dictionary form with no polite です (is) or ます (polite), so it reads like a simple statement of fact.
